Vouchers 'improve staff morale'

25/09/2008

Corporate businesses are handing out gift cards and vouchers in a drive to boost staff performance, it has been claimed.

Natasha Toothill, chair of the Voucher Association, said that employers were using gift cards and vouchers as incentives and sending staff on "intention programmes".

She said the credit crunch was forcing companies to think in new and innovative ways.

"So there is a real drive out there driving sales, improving customer service [to] invite customer attention. I think we are finding more and more companies out there are being really smarter to improve their KPIs [Key Performance Indicators]," she said.

Gift vouchers and cards helped "supplement" employee income and allowed them to afford luxuries, Ms Toothill went on to say.

According to the YouGov Gift Giving Research 2007 - commissioned by the Voucher Association - 90 per cent of people think that vouchers are acceptable to give as presents.

In addition, 82 per cent of those who had received vouchers said it had enabled them to get what they really wanted.ADNFCR-1196-ID-18797033-ADNFCR
