Mobile working, is not working

Mobile working is not working as employees are preferring to stay in the office, a new study has found

Microsoft commissioned a survey of UK office workers and discovered ten per cent less firms were giving their staff the option of flexible working.

"With fears over jobs and the economy, more workers - especially middle managers and below – are shunning mobile working, " said spokesperson, James McCarthy.

He explained they preferred to be seen in the office regardless if it was the best place for them.

Mr McCarthy said the research showed senior managers were three times more likely to be able to work remotely. He explained the option is often still seen as an executive perk.

Consultancy, the Future Foundation, has estimated more than a fifth of commuting time is now spent thinking about, or doing work.
