Web brings 'more rounded life'

The internet has allowed more people to work from home and helped them to have a "more rounded life", claimed an expert from BT Business.

Mick Hegarty cited the results of a recent BT business survey, which found "a whole range of benefits" to working from home.

His claims were supported by Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, which found "working from home significantly improves productivity, enabling businesses to be more competitive, and enhances work-life balance for staff, with added health and leisure benefits".

Mr Flaxton explained it has helped carers and disabled people return to work, who otherwise might have found it difficult.

BT is about to launch its Year of the Home Worker initiative and according to the government's latest Work-Life Balance Employer Survey, 95 percent of workplaces offer some form of flexible working.

Secretarial and clerical work can often be completed away from the office provided workers keep in regular contact with their bosses.ADNFCR-1196-ID-18480429-ADNFCR
